Abstract

In Texas, chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and respiratory illnesses pose significant public health challenges, contributing to high mortality rates and escalating healthcare costs. Elevating health literacy levels among individuals is crucial for mitigating the impact of these diseases, and It's Time Texas is making strides in this area through services like telehealth coaching and exercise and nutrition classes. Telehealth coaching provides personalized guidance, education, and support, empowering individuals to navigate complex health information, make informed decisions, and adopt sustainable lifestyle changes tailored to their unique needs.

In-person and virtual exercise and nutrition classes offer accessible opportunities for physical activity and health education, enhancing overall health literacy. These expert-led sessions foster a deeper understanding of the benefits of regular exercise and healthy living practices. Integrating health coaching and exercise and nutrition classes into public health initiatives can significantly benefit individuals and communities in Texas by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make healthier choices. These interventions can reduce the prevalence and burden of chronic diseases, leading to improved health outcomes and quality of life statewide.

Join us to explore how improving health literacy through targeted interventions can empower individuals to lead healthier, more resilient lives and address chronic diseases effectively in Texas. Attendees will be able to earn 1 CHES/MCHES credit hour.
