Join Texas SOPHE for the webinar "Let's Talk About It": A Conversation with Teen Girls, where the speakers will discuss the evaluation of a healthy relationships and sexual health education program with adolescent teen girls impacted by homelessness. The program, delivered on a weekly basis, included three primary components: conversation circles, an interactive presentation, and a reinforcing fun activity. Topics covered included social media and body image, confidence, mental health, sexual orientation and gender identity, STIs and healthy relationships. The presenters will expand on the feedback received by participants, lessons learned (with an emphasis on implementation), and future recommendations.

Sidnee Wilson, MPH Medical Student, University of Houston’s Tillman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine

By the end of the session, participants will be able to: 
1. Describe three strategies for effectively engaging community stakeholders in assessing the intended audience's current needs. 
2. Compare at least 1 quantitative and 1 qualitative measure to effectively evaluate the sustainability of project implementation. 
3. Formulate at least 1actionable recommendations that are SMART and realistic based off of findings in pilot projects.
 

More about the speakers:
Carol Jacobs graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology and a minor in Sociology. During her undergraduate education, she worked as a research assistant in several fields including human pathogen based Microbiology research and “Sit Down and Play”, a brief primary care-based program to facilitate positive parenting behaviors through take-home play activities. She then earned her Master of Public Health degree in Health Promotion & Behavioral Sciences at UTHealth School of Public Health at Houston with certificates in health disparities as well as maternal and child health. During her MPH, Carol worked on adolescent sexual health research projects in high teen birth rate areas in the greater Houston Area and was the internal chair for the student outREACH student organization. In addition, Carol is also and Albert Schweitzer Fellow-for-Life; her project focused on healthy relationships and sexual health education in adolescent teen girls at New Hope Housing. Carol's newest role is as the program director for the Schweitzer Fellowship to assist current fellows in program development, management, and using an intersectional lens when working with communities.

Sidnee Wilson graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology Exercise Science. She then pursued her Master of Public Health with a Community Health track and a certificate in Health Disparities. She is continuing her studies at The University of Houston’s Tillman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine. Sidnee is committed to her community and has worked with various community organizations including The Montrose Center, The Women’s Home, Homeless Depot, Houston Justice, and New Hope Housing among others. She has helped organize donations, wellness events, and co-developed and delivered a comprehensive teen mentorship program.
